GivingTuesday
Each year, GivingTuesday highlights the collective efforts in building strong, thriving communities around the world. Through the power of global generosity, it is possible to change the lives of many people by strengthening communities everywhere.
About GivingTuesday
GivingTuesday was originally created in 2012, with the goal of establishing a day to encourage others to give. By reserving one day dedicated to sharing the stories of ongoing impact in local communities, GivingTuesday aims to promote generosity across every continent. Whether through financial or social contributions, GivingTuesday encourages individuals to give back and help ensure the collective success of our communities.
The United Way Community Endowment Fund
An endowment is an invested fund that grows over time with an annual percentage paid out for supporting the intended purpose of the fund. The purpose of the United Way Community Endowment Fund (UWEND) is to ensure the impact of our organization in Volusia and Flagler Counties, forever. UWEND grants advance health, youth opportunity and financial security, including investing in programs operated by smaller nonprofits who may not qualify for our community impact grants.
The Ongoing Impact UWEND Provides Within the Community
Small nonprofits are innovative and purpose-driven but often lack adequate financial resources to effect change. By allocating resources to these nonprofits through UWEND, we help launch new initiatives, open pathways and forge connections to foster growth in our communities.
For example, UWEND seeds the Generation Impact Social Innovation Fund (SIF) grants, like Ballet for the World Initiative (BFTWI), now in its second year of programming. Transforming the lives of children through fine arts, this program serves youth with limited means who are facing housing insecurity.
UWEND unlocks the doors to success with our Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA+) mini grants, such as Mr. and Mrs. Mentoring’s Holiday Support Program, which aims to release the financial burden surrounding the holidays, by providing food, clothing and mental health support to the displaced and homeless populations. Additionally, the All About Me program through CWC Ministries is dedicated to mentoring young girls and providing them resources for fulfilling their dreams.
This GivingTuesday, create a lasting legacy by contributing to the United Way Community Endowment Fund. Your gift to UWEND today ensures that your compassion and generosity will continue to transform lives for generations to come.
