Research proves the case for Volunteer Resource Management is as follows:

1. Volunteers need support and leadership to be most effective and to sustain their commitment and involvement.

2. Volunteers are a necessary and critical resource for healthy communities.

3. Mobilizing citizens to volunteer is very challenging in today's environment due to competition and lack of discretionary time.

4. Nonprofit and public organizations need help meeting this challenge. They must develop or enhance their capacity (skills, knowledge, and abilities) to effectively recruit, focus and support volunteer resources.

5. Competent leaders and managers build organizational and community capacity to maximize volunteer resources to meet community needs.

What others are saying about this training:

"I think the entire process provided an opportunity for participants to take an honest assessment of their programs and confirm that most agencies have similar challenges.  The good news is the United Way team is a wonderful resource to help support each agency.  It is a win-win.  As each day of the training evolved participants got to know each other, developed new relationships and friends.  I think people like doing business with friends."

--David James, Halifax Urban Ministries

"Even after 30 years of working with nonprofit organizations as a speaker and trainer, I had plenty to learn from with the content offered in the Volunteer Management Certification course. The United Way's Volunteer Center provides a great service by offering this program.  It will be well worth the time for every participant."

"After 20+ years serving the non-profit, profit and military volunteer, this was the most comprehensive training I have attended.  The networking alone was worth the time away from the office.  Volusia and Flagler Counties have fabulous people in this field.  It was a pleasure just getting to know them.  The training was an added bonus!"

I learned so much from the Volunteer training!  I have 14 years experience with working with volunteers.  This training helped me to realize that there was much more to learn when working with volunteers than I thought.  This is a must have training for anyone working with volunteers.  This should be a part of every agencies training curriculum for staff who supervise volunteers.

-Ernest Hamilton
Executive Director, Rescue Outreach Mission of Sanford, Inc.
