What Your Investment Buys
Your investment in United Way is
an affordable way to improve the lives of people throughout our community.
Remember – your investment is magnified by the contributions of others like you,
and by United Way’s expertise in putting it to work where it does the most good.
The result – together we do more than any one of use could ever do alone!
$1 a week
Provides 208 nutritious meals for people in the local community, thanks to
Second Harvest Food Bank.
$2 a week
25 individuals will receive transportation through Catholic Charities
to find and maintain employment.
$3 a week
Covers troop dues for one girl to have fun and develop leadership skills in
a safe environment at the Girl Scouts of Gateway Council.
$5 a week
The Council on Aging will receive a federal match of $15, for a total
of $20 to deliver 4 meals to elders in Volusia County every week.
$6 a week
Allows the American Heart Association to distribute CPR Anytime kits
to 10 community members, who can then train 2 to 3 friends—providing the
community with more than 30 people with essential CPR skills to save lives
$10 a week
Provides security monitoring for the Domestic Abuse Council’s
Emergency Shelter facility.
Provides 3 foster care or group home children in the care of Children’s Home
Society to receive professional tutoring services.
$15 a week
5 people will receive a comprehensive, educational learning opportunity
about HIV/AIDS at Outreach Community Network.
52 victims of child abuse will receive a mental health functional assessment
through Children’s Advocacy Center.
$18 a week
Provides 104 hygiene kits (soap, toothpaste, etc.) to the homeless at
Halifax Urban Ministries.
$20 a week
Purchases books and materials for 4 student/tutor pairs for one level of
learning through Volusia Literacy Council.
$25 a week
Purchases individual substance abuse therapy sessions for 10 mothers at
Stewart Marchman’s Project WARM.
$45 a week
520 homeless people will be given a night of shelter and hot meals through
the Neighborhood Center of West Volusia.
